It’s the absence of love (and light) that makes the heart grow fonder
Happy Winter Solstice!
Today I want to gift you with the demo of my song “Intercede”
We could call today the darkest day of the year, or we could call it the beginning of when the days will start getting lighter. If you are reading this from a dark, cloudy and rainy climate like where I’m at her in Germany, then you are probably feeling this song a little more. The Lyrics say:
“See, day after day after day it’s been so cloudy,
the cold chills down down deep in my bones
My heart longs for the spectacular moments
When love and hope are nestled in my home
Because I long to feel whole…”
I know this time of year can be particularly hard for some people, it can be incredibly lonely and stressful. So I wanted to share this song to remind you that light will come, will not stay in this darkness forever. But sometimes we need the dark to appreciate the light even more.
“If the sun stayed glorious all throughout the day,
and never let the night fall upon you
The surprise of the sunrise would never meet our eyes
and it would fade into all that’s dull and monotonous.”
The version that ended up on the record is VERY different from this version, which just goes to show what a difference traveling to Arizona to record with Gabriel Sullivan made on my record! I love how the finished version turned out, but I still like this version too, it has a little more of the melancholy in it.
Thank you for being here with me, I hope you dig the tune and I wish you and yours a beautiful Holiday Season!
xoxo,
Sally
