About the Song
This song was inspired by a book I read called "Jesus and John Wayne" by Kristin Kobes Du Mez that goes into the massive amounts of patriarchy, white supremacy, racism and patriotism that's been entrenched in the history of American Evangelicalism (and I’m sure has also creeped into organized religion in Europe). The song is pretty tongue in cheek in reflecting on the experiences I had growing up as a woman in the church. But this song can reach into all areas of the way the many systems we live in from religion to politics, to the workplace need to have the ladder of hierarchy be toppled to find ways to create a society where we are all truly seen as equally valuable and worthy of love.
The Demo
I want to give you not only the song, but also the demo. CLICK HERE to grab it. Fun fact, I recorded this demo in my livingroom while sick on the sofa with COVID.
